Reigan Richardson — a McDonald’s All-American who signed with the Georgia Lady Bulldogs — was named the Charlotte Observer’s Girls Player of the Year, according to an announcement by the Charlotte (N.C.) newspaper.
Richardson led the Cannon School to a North Carolina 4A State title after knocking off North Raleigh Christian, 53-39, in the championship game. The 6-foot guard from Huntersville, N.C. averaged 27 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 4.2 steals in her senior season.
She was also one of just five players across all districts and classifications to be named to the Observer’s All-State First Team.
Richardson is widely considered one of the top prospects in the 2021 class according to several recruiting services. EspnW ranked her as the No. 34 overall prospect in the nation, joining fellow Georgia signee Jillian Hollingshead in the top-40.
The Lady Bulldogs’ 2021 signing class includes McDonald’s All-Americans Richardson and Hollingshead as well as highly-touted signees Alina Sendar (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and Kimora ‘Kimmie’ Jenkins (Long Island, N.Y.).
