Jillian Hollingshead (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Reigan Richardson (Huntersville, N.C.) — two signees in the Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team’s 2021 class — have been named McDonald’s All-Americans, the organization announced on Tuesday. 

It marks the first time in program history Georgia has signed two McDonald’s All-Americans in one class. Hollingshead and Richardson are the 11th and 12th McDonald’s All-Americans to sign with the Lady Bulldogs, and are the first to commit right out high school since Ronika Ransford in 2010. Current Lady Bulldog Mikayla Coombs was a McDonald’s All-American in 2017.

Georgia is one of only three Southeastern Conference schools — joining South Carolina and Arkansas — to have a signee on this year’s list. 

“We are obviously delighted for Jillian and Reigan,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “To be considered among the top 24 players in the country is a testament to how hard they have worked to get where they are today. I have no doubt our fans will enjoy watching them play over the next four years. More important than any honor or stat is who they are as people, and I truly mean that. Our staff has been so impressed with their maturity and commitment to earning an outstanding education at the University of Georgia. We are thrilled that Jillian and Reigan are part of the Lady Bulldog family.” 

Hollingshead and Richardson — who each signed with the Lady Bulldogs this past November — are consistently ranked among the top prospects in the nation. 

Hollingshead preps at Georgia powerhouse McEachern High School. She is ranked as the No. 5  forward and the No. 37 overall prospect in the 2021 class by espnW. 

After spending three seasons at Holy Innocents Episcopal School, Hollingshead transferred to McEachern. As a sophomore, she helped Holy Innocents to a Region 5A championship and a state title, scoring a game-high 25 points to go with 10 boards in the championship game. She was also an Atlanta Tip-Off Club First-Team All-State selection.

Hollingshead was invited to the USA Women’s U16 National Team trials, where she was one of 18 finalists for the 2019 USA Women’s U16 National Team. 

Richardson preps at Cannon High School in Huntersville, N.C. She is ranked as the No. 15 overall guard nationally by espnW. 

She led the Cannon Cougars, coached by Kelvin Drakeford, to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 4A semifinals, averaging 22.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.4 assists per game – all team highs. She was named the 2020 Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association Player of the Year.

Richardson was named to the 2020 AP All-State Team and was also a member of the NCISAA 4A All-State Team back-to-back years (2019, 2020).

In addition to Hollingshead and Richardson, Georgia has signed guards Alina Sendar (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and Kimora “Kimmie” Jenkins (Long Island, N.Y.). s
