Kirby Smart is all about recruiting. National Signing Day was just over one week ago, but recruiting is still at full throttle in Athens. There will be around twenty 2017 and 2018 bright young prospects touring campus and hearing the recruiting pitch over the weekend. There will be one grizzled veteran looking for a new home.
Tyler Catalina will graduate from Rhode Island this spring with one season of college eligibility left. He has decided to use that remaining season to step up to SEC football, although he has signed financial aid paperwork with Iowa State. Catalina has visited Florida and is scheduled to visit Auburn after his Athens weekend.
Tyler told 247Sports that he is eager to meet and talk with Georgia’s new offensive line coach, Sam Pittman:

“I haven’t gotten to meet him yet but based off the conversations I’ve had with him he seems like a real great guy,” Catalina said of Pittman. “He knows what he’s been talking about. He’s been around for awhile. I’m just excited to get down there and meet him and the rest of the coaching staff.”
“I can’t wait to sit down and talk football,” Catalina said when asked what he is looking forward to most about the UGA visit. “As cliche as it sounds, I love talking football with coaches, understanding what they’re trying to do and how they see me fitting in their schemes and their offense. That’s what I’m really looking forward to. Plus some nice, warm weather if it warms up.”
