After the Bulldogs shutout the Tigers 27-0, sophomore offensive lineman Cade Mays fields questions regarding the game and the win in which he had to slide over from right guard to center when starter Trey Hill had to be helped off the field with a lower leg injury.

Mays said he places high expectations on himself and doesn’t expect there to be a drop off at any of the positions he is asked to play.

“I’ve got high expectations for myself,” Mays said. “We can’t have any drop-offs. I had to come in there and make sure I had everybody on the right points, all the right positions, and stuff. It was next guy up.”

He did have one errant snap that quarterback Jake Fromm was able to recover to avoid the turnover.

“I messed up on one; I know I can’t have that, but yeah, whatever this team needs, I’m willing to do it,” Mays said. “It’s next man up. I’ve got to do my job.”

Kirby Smart commented on Mays’ versatility as a player during the post-game press conference.

“He’s very versatile, that’s what he says. I look it as practice gains to me, he gets a ton of reps in practice,” Smart said. “No moment is too big for him. He’s very intelligent, he’s very athletic.”

After Hill went out with an injury, Mays also had to come out due to an injury. When asked how is he feeling , Mays responded: “I just got rolled up on. I’m OK.”

Jamaree Salyer would come in to replace Mays and finish out the game for the Bulldogs at center.
