Seven Georgia players were drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, including two in the first round and one as the very final pick in round seven. There were several that went undrafted, but they quickly found homes in new cities as undrafted free agents as the actual draft concluded.

Fan favorite and 2019 Lou Groza Award winner Rodrigo Blankenship was picked up by the Indianapolis Colts right as the draft ended. This was a great pickup for both sides because Blankenship will backup future hall of fame kicker Adam Vinatieri. At UGA, Blankenship made 80 of 97 field goals (82.5 percent) and nailed on all 200 of his PAT attempts. He leaves Athens as the program’s all-time leading scorer. Blankenship also finished his career kicking over 70 percent of kickoffs as touchbacks.

Three-year starting safety J.R. Reed was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

 

 

 

 

Throughout the past few seasons, Reed played in 42 consecutive games before missing the Allstate Sugar Bowl against Baylor with a minor foot injury. He proved he could has the capability of competing in the NFL by being the leader this past season in the Bulldogs’ secondary. Georgia held opponents held teams to just 12.6 points per game in 2019, and Reed was a big part of that. Reed had 199 total career tackles, nine tackles for loss, nine interceptions, and 15 pass breakups while at UGA. He also recovered three fumbles, while returning two of them for touchdowns.

Miami grad transfer Lawrence Cager was picked up by the Miami Dolphins. While only playing in nine games this past season, Cager caught 33 passes for 476 yards and four touchdowns. For a part of the year he battled ankle and shoulder injuries but still remained productive. He had the best game of his college career against Florida when he hauled in seven passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. He also had a big touchdown catch in Georgia’s 23-17 over Notre Dame as well.

Tennessee grad transfer Eli Wolf was picked up by the Baltimore Ravens. Wolf had 13 catches for 194 yards and a score. Arguably two of the biggest catches of the season came when Wolf hauled a pass against Florida to seal the victory for the Bulldogs. He also had a huge catch against Auburn as well.

Backup running back Brian Herrien signed with the Cleveland Browns and will join former teammate Nick Chubb. Last season, Herrien had 103 carries for 490 yards and six touchdowns as he helped carry the load for the Bulldogs. Herrien split time with D’Andre Swift this past season and helped the team immensely as the No. 2 back.

Wide receiver Tyler ‘Onsides’ Simmons ended up signing with the Houston Texans. Throughout his career at UGA, Simmons caught 35 passes for 438 yards and three touchdowns. He spent a lot of time on special teams and was a weapon for the Bulldogs in that role.

Defensive tackle Tyler Clark, who led the defense in 2019 with eight tackles for loss, was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals.
