NCAA is considering replacing satellite camps with camps that would be held at NFL facilities, according to information obtained by The Virginian-Pilot via Freedom of Information Act request.
 
 
The FoI request was served on Virginia Commonwealth University after the recent Conference USA spring meetings. NCAA is also considering another outright ban of the controversial camps, according to the documents. In lieu of a ban, the camps could be limited to a ten day period.
 
 

The NCAA would mandate counseling on recruiting and academics at its satellite camps, and is considering compensating low-income athletes for the cost of traveling to the camps.
 
According to a document from the C-USA meetings, ‘”The creation of these regional evaluation clinics, as well as cleaning up the current rules regarding institutional/non-institutional camp operations, should greatly diminish the influence of non-scholastic programs (e.g., 7-on-7) and other third-party influences.”
 
It is expected that the NCAA will deal with satellite camps this summer.
