With Theo Johnson’s commitment to Penn State, who is left on Georgia’s board for tight end in 2020?

With Holy Names High School’s Theo Johnson committing to Penn State on Monday and Marietta High School’s Arik Gilbert committing to LSU back in October, who is left on Georgia’s board for tight end in 2020?

The number one name on the board who is still undeclared is Desert Pines High School athlete Darnell Washington. The 6-foot-7.5 and 261 lbs 5-star prospect out of Las Vegas, NV plans to announce his decision at the Under Armour All-America Game on Thursday, January 2nd.

Washington has been favored to UGA for several months now and that is unlikely to change. While anything is possible, especially if there are more coaching changes, it would be a surprise if he were to choose another program over the Bulldogs.

Another target for the Dawgs’ coaching staff is Michael Henderson, Jr. out of Ranchview High School in Carrolton, TX. The 6-foot-3 and 234 lbs athlete is currently committed to Oklahoma, since February, but Henderson has been the talk of flipping to Georgia for a number of months now. Henderson took an official visit to UGA back in October for the Kentucky game. Will he flip is the question?

As of right now, if Georgia is going to sign a tight end in this 2020 recruiting class it looks like it will be Darnell Washington, but now there is a groundswell of concern that the Bulldogs could lose him out to Miami or Tennessee. Washington took an official visit with the Hurricanes this past weekend and is expected to take an official to Tennessee this weekend. However, as of right now, I don’t think their needs to be any concern.

And the Dawgs have room in there tight end for both Washington and Henderson. With senior Charlie Woerner and graduate transfer Eli Wolf playing in their final year of eligibility, UGA will have three tight ends on scholarship headed into 2020. John Fitzpatrick, a 6-foot-6 and 241 lbs sophomore out of Atlanta, Ryland Goede, a 6-foot-6 and 240 lbs freshman out of Acworth, and Brett Seither, a 6-foot-5 and 228 lbs freshman out of Clearwater, FL.
