ATHENS, Ga. – Caliya Robinson, the Southeastern Conference’s blocked shots leader and a junior forward on the Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team, has been named one of five finalists for the 2018 Katrina McClain Award, it was announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday.

Joining Robinson on the final list are Lauren Cox (Baylor), Napheesa Collier (Connecticut), Ayisha Hines-Allen (Louisville) and Ruthy Hebard (Oregon).

The winner of the 2018 Katrina McClain Award will be announced during ESPN2’s telecast of the national semifinal games in the 2018 NCAA Women’s Final Four in Columbus, Ohio. Fans are encouraged to visitwww.HoopHallAwards.com to cast their votes for this year’s winner from March 2-23.
 
 

 
 
Named after the former Lady Bulldog, two-time All-American and the 1987 National Player of the Year, the award is in its inaugural season and will go to America’s top power forward each year. A national committee of top women’s basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers narrowed the watch list down from 20, to 10, and now five.

Robinson, a native of Marietta, Georgia, leads the Lady Bulldogs in both scoring and rebounding and paces the Southeastern Conference in blocks with 88 total this season. The second-team All-SEC selection is one of just five Lady Bulldogs all-time to record 200 career blocks and needs just four points to reach 1,000 in her career.

Georgia opens the SEC Tournament Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m. ET and will play the winner of the Missouri versus Ole Miss contest.
