ATHENS, Ga. — The 19th-ranked Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team has earned a No. 3 seed in the 2018 Southeastern Conference Tournament, according to a release by the league office Sunday evening.
Georgia will play Friday and will go against the winner of the No. 6 seed Missouri versus Florida/Ole Miss matchup. Georgia’s contest is scheduled to start 25 minutes following the conclusion of the 6 p.m. CT game earlier that evening.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the 2017-18 regular season in a tie with South Carolina for second place in the final SEC standings. Georgia was picked eighth in this year’s preseason poll, which was voted on by league coaches.
The winner of Georgia versus either Missouri, Florida or Ole Miss matchup will play in the evening semifinals contest, which is scheduled to start at approximately 6:30 p.m. CT/7:30 p.m. ET Saturday on ESPNU.
Georgia has won the SEC Tournament title four times (1983, 1984, 1986 and 2001) and owns a 47-34 all-time record in the yearly event. This marks the first time the Lady Bulldogs have earned a No. 3 seed or higher since the 2013 SEC Tournament in Duluth, Ga
