[su_spacer size=”40″] The pair of UGA seniors were not the only two to have strong performances on Saturday. Lady Bulldog freshman forward Caliya Robinson scored a season-high 13 points after hitting 5-for-9 from the field for the game.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia has now won four-straight and improves to 5-1 this season. Cal State Northridge falls to 1-5, with its lone win of the year coming against Penn State in the opening contest of this weekend’s tournament.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “I am proud of our team and the way we came out here early and took control,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “We had a quick turnaround from yesterday, but I thought we came out with great energy and played really well tonight.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia took control early, jumping out to a 51-28 halftime advantage. Griffin and Barbee led the Lady Bulldogs in the opening frame, with each scoring in double figures — Griffin with 18 points and Barbee with 10.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Griffin scored 12 of her 18 first-half points in the first quarter as Georgia shot 51.6 percent (16-of-31) and forced 13 CSUN turnovers in the first 20 minutes of the game to seize the momentum early.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia continued to maintain control in the second half as Griffin scored the first seven points of the third quarter to put the game out of reach en route to the 83-58 victory.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Lady Bulldogs return home to host Mercer this coming Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET, before hosting Kennesaw State on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
