[su_spacer size=”40″] Sunday’s matchup is billed as UGA’s ‘Blackout’ game. The first 1,000 fans will receive an Andy Landers bobblehead and a black t-shirt.

– Georgia is looking for its second-straight SEC win when the Lady Bulldogs host LSU on Sunday.

– Georgia and LSU meet for the 43rd time in school history. The home team has won the last six meetings between the two programs, with the Lady Bulldogs owning a 13-5 advantage in the all-time series in Athens.

– The Lady Bulldogs defeated No. 10 Mississippi State, 47-43, on Thursday, for their third win over a ranked team this season. It marks the first time UGA has totaled a trio of ranked wins in the same season since the 2012-13 Elite Eight year.

– Georgia held No. 10 Mississippi State to its lowest scoring output and its second-lowest field goal percentage of the season on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs have held 18 of 19 opponents at 40 percent or lower shooting this season and have held five teams to their season lows in scoring. Georgia currently ranks third in the SEC in scoring defense (52.9 ppg), and first in both FG pct. defense (33.6%) and 3-point FG pct. defense (23.5%).

– UGA senior guard Shacobia Barbee has recorded back-to-back double-doubles and four in the first six SEC games.  Barbee is averaging a double-double in SEC play with her 11.5 ppg and 11.2 rebounds per contest. Barbee ranks in the top-5 in the SEC in assists, steals and rebounds.

LSU’s leading scoring in conference play is Alexis Hyder, who is averaging 11.5 points per game against conference teams. The Tigers are holding opponents to just 55.2 points per game and own a +3.2 rebounding margin this season.

Behind an impressive team defensive performance, the Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team took down No. 10 Mississippi State, 47-43, Thursday night at Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia was led once again by Shacobia Barbee with 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists — her fourth double-double in SEC play and seventh overall this season.

With the win, Georgia holds a 28-15 all-time series advantage against Mississippi State and a 16-3 nod in games played in Athens.

“I’m very proud of our girls,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “We came out and executed very well. We told them to just take it one possession at a time. I felt like we had been playing tight lately and put so much pressure on every shot that we took. Tonight we took what came to us and had a great team effort.”

» 2015-16 Preseason All-SEC selection Shacobia Barbee has continued to show her versatility this season, ranking in the top 5 in the SEC in almost every major statistic. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native currently ranks No. 1 in total rebounds (180), No. 3 in rebounds per game (9.5), No. 4 in steals (45), No. 4 in steals per game (2.4), No. 4 in free-throws made (61), No. 4 in assists (86), and No. 2 in assist to turnover ratio (86 assists, 36 turnovers).

» Senior guard Tiaria Griffin has etched her name into the Lady Bulldog record books as one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in Georgia basketball history. Griffin is now tied for fourth in career 3-point field goals made with 189 treys. Griffin most recently passed Georgia great Kelly Miller on the career records chart. Griffin had a streak of 22-straight games with a made 3-pointer snapped in the last game against Mississippi State.

» Freshman forward Caliya Robinson provided a much needed spark off the bench in wins against No. 20 Florida and, most recently, No. 10 Mississippi State. Robinson totaled six points and seven rebounds on the road at Florida, before her nine-point, six-rebound effort against MSU on Thursday. The Marietta, Ga., native scored the team’s last seven points in the first quarter of Thursday’s game, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer to help give her team early momentum against Mississippi State.

» Senior guard Marjorie Butler has been nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team for her efforts in the classroom. Butler, who will graduate with her second degree in May, has been accepted to several prestigious medical schools and has plans to be an orthopedic surgeon. The Knoxville, Tenn., native began her career at UGA with over 50 college credit hours.

» Senior forward Merritt Hempe is a nominee for the 2015 AllState Good Works Team. The Fredericksburg, Va., native, who has four double-doubles this season, is actively involved in the community, participating in events such as Special Olympics Homeruns for Hometown Rivals baseball game, Toys for Tots, writing Holiday cards for deployed soldiers, helping provide safe routes to school by partnering with Barrow Elementary, providing toiletries collection for the homeless, visiting Stroud Elementary throughout the year to encourage and mentor children, is an Alzheimer’s Walk Volunteer and Ath-Half Volunteer, and volunteers as an AAU coach and operations staff member.
