The Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball program will honor Hall of Fame coach Andy Landers, the 1996 NCAA Runner-up team and all alumni, during its Alumni Reunion Weekend, which is scheduled to take place this Friday through Sunday on the University of Georgia campus.

 
“I am so excited to welcome former players, coaches, staff and other guests back to campus as we celebrate Lady Bulldog alumni, the remarkable career of Andy Landers as well as one of the best teams in Georgia history,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “This is going to be a fun weekend where we honor Coach’s legacy and look back at all the great memories. We have such a rich tradition here at the University of Georgia, and I look forward to honoring that tradition with this weekend’s events.”
 
The festivities this weekend will kick off with a meet and greet event on Friday night. Former players, staff members and other guests will then attend UGA’s practice on Saturday and the men’s basketball game against Arkansas.
 
On Sunday, all alumni and guests can attend the Lady Bulldogs’ contest against LSU for free. This game is also billed as Georgia’s ‘Black Out’ contest. The first 1,000 fans will receive a black t-shirt and an Andy Landers bobblehead.
 
During the game against LSU, there will also be a special halftime recognition for Georgia basketball alumni, Coach Landers and the 1996 Final Four squad. This weekend’s festivities will then culminate with a reception to honor Coach Landers in the women’s basketball practice facility following Sunday’s game.
 
Landers, a native of Maryville, Tenn., and four-time National Coach of the Year, amassed 944 career wins during coaching stops at Roane State (1975-79) and Georgia (1979-2015) — a total that ranks No. 5 all-time in NCAA women’s basketball history. During his 36 seasons in Athens, Landers led Georgia to 31 NCAA tournaments, five Final Fours, 17 top-10 finishes, seven SEC titles and four SEC tournament championships.
 
Perhaps one of his top teams during his 36 years at UGA was the 1995-96 squad that became the first Lady Bulldog team to win a SEC regular season title and advance to the Final Four in the same season. The electrifying team that featured National Player of the Year Saudia Roundtree went on to finish with a 28-5 record and was No. 2 in the final rankings.
 
Georgia hosts No. 10 Mississippi State on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET inside Stegeman Coliseum and will welcome LSU to Athens on Sunday for a 2 p.m. ET tip.
