Coach Joni Taylor reflected on the 2017-18 season a looked ahead to next year after the season-ending loss to Duke at Stegeman last night:
 
“I think the message for us is sustaining it. This can happen, but the programs that can sustain this year-in and year-out is what makes them special. That’s what makes them dynasties. That’s what we have to do. That’s going to take even more effort and hard work. I think this year we snuck up on some people. Outside of our program, I don’t think anyone thought we would win 26 games, been ranked, and hosted at home. We all thought that was possible. So now, teams know what we’re capable of, and we have to work even harder to continue to get better. This is now the standard for our program.”
 
 
Taylor also talked about the incoming freshman class that will have to replace players like Haley Calrk and Mackenzie Engram:
 
“Caitlin Hose is a 3-point shooter from Alabama. She can also take you off the dribble, she’s also really savvy off of ball screens. She’s longer and she’s bigger. Then you have Donnetta Johnson. Her skillset is unlike anything I’ve seen. She has to come in and commit to playing defense. That’s where she is going to have to come in and get better, but offensively, I would put her up against anyone with her one-on-one ability and her skillset. Kaila Hubbard comes from Holy Innocents. She is a state champion and a AAU national champion. She knows how to compete and she has a Que Morrison type of mentality. She’s just a winner. She can play on the ball and off the ball. They will give us a lot of depth, and also their ability to score is going to help us a lot.”
