Jonesboro, GA product Kaila Hubbard has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball program, head coach Joni Taylor announced Wednesday.
Hubbard, who plays at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, is rated as a top-50 player nationally and a four-star prospect according to ProspectsNation.com. ESPN’s HoopGurlz ranks Hubbard as the No. 14 wing player in the country.
The Georgia native is entering her senior season and will be an eligible freshman for the Lady Bulldogs beginning with the 2018-19 campaign.
“What I love about Kaila is her toughness,” Taylor said. “She is a versatile player who is strong and physical to the rim. She also thrives in transition, which makes her a perfect fit for our program. More than anything, Kaila is a winner and has been a part of a state championship team as well as two Nike National Championships. She is someone who has taken honors classes all throughout high school and has what it takes to be successful in anything she sets her mind to. We cannot wait to welcome Kaila to Athens and the University of Georgia.”
Hubbard led her team to the GHSA Class 1A state title in 2016 and was honored by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club as an All-Metro second-team performer. Hubbard also played on Team Elite and helped her team win back-to-back Nike EYBL Championships.
She is the first signee of Georgia’s 2018 class. The early signing period runs from Nov. 8-15.
