Opening Tip

Following an 11-day break for final exams, Georgia plays four games in an eight-day span over the next week. The current stretch begins with a road trip to North Carolina A&T this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. ET. The game is not televised but will be live streamed via NCATAggies.com.

The Lady Bulldogs stormed out to the best start in the Joni Taylor era with a 7-0 record, before falling to then No. 2 ranked Texas on Dec. 3. Georgia played three of its first five games on the road (most to begin a season since 2003-04), but will finish non-conference action with four consecutive home contests.

Senior forward Mackenzie Engram has stepped up to lead the Lady Bulldogs. She paces the team in scoring with 12.8 ppg and is tied for the team lead in rebounding with 6.8 rpg. Engram has scored in double figures in seven of eight games so far this season.

Georgia’s backcourt, which features four newcomers Taja Cole, Que Morrison, Gabby Connally and Maya Caldwell, currently leads the SEC in assists per game with 18.3 per contest. The trio of Morrison, Cole and Connally rank third, fourth and fifth respectively among Georgia’s top scorers this season, and the Lady Bulldogs are one of only two teams (joining Tennessee) to have a pair of rookies rank in the top-10 of the SEC’s freshman scoring leaders.

Junior forward Caliya Robinson has received early season recognition. The preseason All-SEC selection was named to the Citizen Naismith Trophy National Player of the Year watch list as well as the Katrina McClain Award watch list for the top power forward in the country. Robinson ranks among the SEC’s top-10 returners in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.
