The Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team will face Oklahoma State on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma as part of the SEC/Big 12 Women’s Basketball Challenge, the Southeastern Conference office announced on Monday.
 
 
The matchup will pit two 2016 NCAA Tournament teams against each other for an early December non-conference contest. The Cowgirls, who finished with a 21-10 record last season, were a No. 7 seed in last year’s NCAA tourney field.
 
 
“This event gives our two conferences a tremendous opportunity to showcase their teams before the league schedule tips off,” head coach Joni Taylor said. “Oklahoma State is very talented and has won 20 more games in each of the past five seasons under head coach Jim Littell. We look forward to a very tough, competitive game that will be a great test for us before we enter conference play. We are excited to be a part of this event and look forward to the trip to Stillwater.”
 
 
This year’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge features 10 squads from the SEC against every team from the Big 12. This season marks the first in which 10 games will be played, with the format consisting of five home games on campus sites for each conference. Two teams from each league participated in the past two years with the conferences splitting the games each season for an overall 2-2 series record. Times and television designation will be released when available.
