The Georgia women’s golf team carded a 6-over 294 in Monday’s second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Country Club, leaving the No. 5-ranked Bulldogs in second place with 18 holes to play. No. 8 Arkansas, which shot 7-under 281, moved ahead Georgia on the team leaderboard by seven shots.

 
“It was a solid day,” head coach Josh Brewer said. “It got windy and rainy out there, but we battled. We had a few more mistakes today that didn’t give us a chance to break par, but at the same time we hung in there and fought and gave ourselves a chance to win the golf tournament in the final round.”
 
Bailey Tardy shot even-par 72 to lead Georgia for the second straight day. The Bulldogs also counted a 73 from Rinko Mitsunaga, a 74 from Manuela Carbajo Ré and a 75, the score posted by both Jillian Hollis and Harang Lee.
 
Overall, Tardy is in third place at 4-under 140, a shot off the pace of co-leaders Maria Fassi of Arkansas and Gabby Barker of Texas Tech. Carbajo Ré and Lee both are tied for sixth at even-par 144, Mitsunaga is tied for 32nd at 149 and Hollis is tied for 42nd at 151. Isabella Skinner, who is competing as an individual, shot 80 and is tied for 81st at 164.
 
Tardy spent much of her day in red numbers before finishing at even. She birdied No. 1, No. 4 and No. 7 before a bogey at No. 9 left her at 2-under at the turn. Additional bogeys at No. 10, No. 14 and No. 17 pushed Tardy to 1-over, but she rebounded with a birdie at No. 18 to wrap up her loop.
 
Rounding out the top-10 teams following the Razorbacks and Bulldogs are No. 25 Texas Tech at 583, No. 18 Iowa State at 585, No. 6 Northwestern at 588, No. 9 Kent State at 590, Louisville at 592, N.C. State and TCU both at 592 and Augusta at 595.
 
“All we want is a chance to win on the last day, the last nine or final few holes,” Brewer said. “If we’re going to win something in the postseason this year, chances are we’re going to have to come from behind at some point. This could give us a chance to experience that now and be better prepared later. We feel like we’re in a good spot to pull it out tomorrow if we play our game.”
 
Georgia will be paired with Arkansas, Texas Tech and Iowa State for Tuesday’s final round, teeing off at 6:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Live scoring updated every three holes will be available at www.birdiefire.com.
