Playing shorthanded with only four golfers, the Georgia women’s golf team shot 306 in Saturday’s second round of the Ladies Fall Intercollegiate Invitational at the Atlanta Athletic Club. The Bulldogs fell from first to fourth on the team leaderboard in the process.

Junior Jillian Hollis was 2-under on the No. 11 tee when she was forced to withdraw due to an undiagnosed injury. That left Georgia in a play-four, count-four situation without a drop score.

“We feel for Jillian,” head coach Josh Brewer said. “She’s a competitor and a leader for our team. We’re approaching the final day with a chance to make a statement to end our fall season. It’s a great challenge, and we feel like we’re up to that challenge.”

The remaining four Bulldogs’ scores all counted. Those were a pair of 76s from Rinko Mitsunaga and Isabella Skinner and two 77s from Gabriela Coello and Paula Neira Garcia. Competing individually, freshmen Stephanie Carras and Elisa Yang shot 76 and 90, respectively.

On the individual leaderboard, Mitsuanaga is tied for sixth at 4-over 148. She is four shots off the pace of Coastal Carolina’s Malene Krolboll Hansen.

“We need Gaby and Rinko have put themselves in position for great individual finishes,” Brewer said. “We need them to go ahead and post a solid third round this week and finish strong.”

Kennesaw State and Louisville are tied for the team lead at 596, followed by Illinois at 601, the Bulldogs at 605, Indiana at 606, East Carolina at 610 and Coastal Carolina at 611.
