The No. 5-ranked Georgia women’s golf team posted a 16-over 300 in Sunday’s final round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club, leaving the Bulldogs in seventh place in the elite field at 883.

Junior Harang Lee was Georgia’s top individual finisher. Lee shot 74 on Sunday and finished sixth overall at 3-over 216.

The Bulldogs started strong and played their first nine holes at 1-under as a team before struggling on the back side.

“I’m not sure what happened,” head coach Josh Brewer said. “I know we put a scare in everyone. If you want to look at it, we played 27 dominant holes of golf here and played 27 holes we’ll learn from. All you want is to be in a position to win and we were. We’ve done a good job of closing all year when we’ve been in contention. We’ll learn from this one.”

Freshman Rinko Mitsunaga posted the Bulldogs’ low score of the day, a 1-over 72 and tied for 13th at 219. UGA also counted a 75 from Bailey Tardy and a 79 from Manuela Carbajo Ré, while dropping Mary Ellen Shuman’s 80. Overall, Tardy tied for 17th at 220, Shuman tied for 62nd at 229 and Carbajo Ré tied for 74th at 232.

No. 4 Alabama completed its wire-to-wire victory after completing the 54-hole event at 868, four shots better than Virginia. Rounding out the top-10 teams were No. 2 Duke at 878, No. 10 Oklahoma State at 879, North Carolina at 881, No. 3 Arkansas at 882, the Bulldogs at 883, No. 1 Southern Cal and South Carolina both at 887 and No. 21 Tennessee at 888.

Cheyenne Knight captured individual medalist honors for Alabama as well. She finished at even-par 213, a shot better than four players tying for second.

Georgia will return to action in two weeks when the Bulldogs compete in the Mountain View Collegiate in Tempe, Ariz.
