The Georgia women’s tennis team announced its spring 2021 schedule with the Bulldogs set to begin spring play Jan. 22.
Georgia will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to take part in the FSU Invitational against Florida State and Miami (FL) Jan. 22-23 before heading home to take on North Carolina on Jan. 30. Georgia Tech will come to Athens on Feb. 11 and conference play begins with a home match against Tennessee on Feb. 21.
The Bulldogs will hit the road to Mississippi to take on Ole Miss in Oxford on Feb. 26 and then Mississippi State on Feb. 28. Florida and South Carolina will travel to Athens on March 5, and March 7 respectively before a fury of road matches starting with LSU on March 12. From there, the team will head to Bryant-College Station, Texas to face off against Texas A&M on March 14.
Georgia will finish their road matches on March 26 in Lexington, Ky. against Kentucky, and on March 28 in Nashville, Tenn. against Vanderbilt before returning home for the final four matches of the season. On April 2 the Bulldogs will square off against Missouri and on April 4 against Arkansas. The final two home stints will come against Alabama on April 8 and Auburn on April 10.
The SEC Tournament will be held in Tuscaloosa, Ala. from April 21-25. The dates for the NCAA Tournament will be announced at a later date.
The 2020 season saw its action cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the shutdown, the Bulldogs held an 8-2 record with a 3-0 conference record. The fall season was comprised of three events in which Georgia picked up 55 singles wins and 24 doubles wins. Meg Kowalski and Marta Gonzalez highlighted the fall going a perfect 9-0 in singles matches, as well as Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc producing the best record of any duo, going 5-1.
The Bulldogs will return every competitor from last season, as well as one newcomer in Ariana Arseneault who notched 10 wins, six in singles and four in doubles.
