Freshman Katarina Jokic advanced to the round of 16 in singles and in doubles with Mariana Gould Friday to highlight the Bulldogs competing at the ITA Southeast Regional.

Seven of the top eight seeds in doubles advanced Friday. The Bulldog duo of Gould and Jokic, seeded fourth, improved to 8-1 with an 8-1 win over Georgia Southern tandem of Arianne de Winter and Charlotte van Diemen. Georgia’s Morgan Coppoc and Vivian Wolff blanked the Mercer duo of Celine Schepers and Katie Sidor 8-0. The Florida International team of Ulyana Grib and Maryna Veksler edged Georgia’s Marta Gonzalez and Annette Goulak 8-6.
 
 
Jokic, seeded seventh, moved in to the round of 16 with a pair of wins and improved to 14-2 on the year. She beat Dominika Paterova (Miami) 6-3,6-0 and then ousted Vanja Karic (USF) 6-3,6-2.
 
 
“I didn’t play my best tennis but still managed to win all three of my matches today,” said Jokic. “Now, I just need to rest and get ready for tomorrow.”
 
 
Gonzalez advanced to the round of 32 with a 6-4,7-5 win over Gabrielle Golden (FSU) and then defeated Natalia Boltinskaya (FAU), 6-4, 6-2 to improve to 14-2 on the year.
 
 
Goulak breezed past Bridget Foster (FGC) 6-1,6-0 in the first round and then rallied past Peggy Porter (Florida) 5-7,6-4,6-2 to reach the round of 16.
 
 
Gould, Wolff and Coppoc dropped their first round matches to fall to the consolation draw, which will begin Saturday around 11 a.m.
 
 
The tournament field features student-athletes from 17 different schools located in the state of Georgia and Florida. Regional winners will advance to the Oracle/ITA Fall National Championships next month in Indian Wells, California. Admission is free for the tournament, and it runs through Monday.
