The Georgia Bulldog women’s tennis team amassed seven singles victories Friday in the early section of day one of the Big 5 Challenge at TCU’s Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Georgia went 7-of-8 in singles matches in the early play Friday but fell in all three of its doubles matches.
Sophomore Elena Christofi, ranked 10th in ITA singles, notched her first ranked win of the season when she bested No. 67 Kelley Anderson of Arizona State in the third-set super tiebreaker, 6-2,1-6, (10-4). Senior Laura Patterson cruised past Virginia Tech’s Sarah Baron 6-4, 6-0 to remain undefeated at 4-0 on the season. Christofi has also yet to lose in singles play and leads the team with five wins.
Freshmen Morgan Coppoc, Annette Goulak, and Vivian Wolff added singles victories, while sophomore Marta Gonzalez and senior Mariana Gould wrapped up Georgia’s other wins.
