Flushing, N.Y. — After dropping her first match at the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y., junior Caroline Brinson bounced back with a come-from-behind, three-set win on Friday.

Brinson, ranked 72nd in the nation, dropped the first set 6-2 but battled back to take the final two sets of the match 6-3, 6-2 over Nuria Ormeno Ruiz of Colorado. She will now move on to face Auburn’s Andrea Dikosavljevic.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “Caroline was put in a similar position to yesterday,” said Associate Head Coach Drake Bernstein. “She was able to turn the tables today.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] Sophomore Ellen Perez, ranked 29th in the country, dropped her contest against Vanderbilt’s Frances Altick by a score of 6-3, 6-2. The loss ended the fall season for the Australia native, who finished with an 11-3 record and 6-2 against ranked opponents.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “Ellen had a great fall,” Bernstein added. “We’re all looking forward to what she will bring to the team in the spring.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] Brinson’s next match will take place Saturday morning.
