The first edition of the Oracle/ITA rankings slotted the University of Georgia women’s tennis team sixth nationally in the top 25 in addition to three individual singles rankings and one doubles rankings.
Joining Georgia in the team rankings is a resounding eight teams from the Southeastern Conference – all of which the Bulldogs will face in 2017. The Bulldogs will compete against nine ranked opponents as Georgia Tech comes in at No. 11.
The other ranked SEC teams include Florida (1), Vanderbilt (9), Auburn (15), South Carolina (16), LSU (19), Kentucky (20), Texas A&M (21), and Mississippi State (24).
“The SEC again just shows why we are an elite conference in the country,” Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace. “We have so many good teams but that is what makes it fun and exciting. You want to have a strong schedule and even our non-conference schedule; we try to make it strong because the only way to ever see where you are at and stack up is to play the best teams. So we are excited about this season and what it offers by way of our schedule.”
