Georgia sophomore Elena Christofi and freshman Katarina Jokic were among the big winners Sunday in fall tournament action at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

In singles, Jokic and Christofi capped a perfect 4-0 weekend in singles with another straight set win as they were part of tri-champions named in singles along with Summer Dvorak(Vanderbilt). Jokic defeated Missouri’s Marta Oliveira 6-1,7-6(2) while Christofi beat Serena Nash (Missouri) 6-0,6-1.

In doubles, Georgia’s freshman tandem of Annette Goulak and Vivian Wolff posted a 6-4 win over Vanderbilt’s Amanda Meyer and Dvorak 6-4. The Commodore duo of Emmak Kurtz and Christina Rosca edged Georgia’s 34th-ranked team of Christofi and Morgan Coppoc 7-5. Vanderbilt’s 17th-ranked team of Emily Smith and Fernanda Contreras beat Jokic and Laura Patterson 6-3. The doubles champions named were Kurtz/Rosca of Vanderbilt.

“The fall season is full of tournaments, and it’s a great time to get a lot of matches in and see what each player needs to work on,” said Georgia coach Jeff Wallace. “We played some great tennis this weekend, and after seeing us in a few matches, we’ll carry over to practice what we need to focus on to get better.”

Due to the hurricanes that impacted the Caribbean recently, Georgia played host to the Puerto Rico Fall Classic. The three-day round-robin began Friday and featured singles and doubles action with student-athletes from Clemson, Missouri, Vanderbilt and the host Bulldogs.

Up next, the Bulldogs will head to Fort Worth, Texas next Friday for the Big 5 Challenge, a three-day fall event on the TCU campus.
