[su_spacer size=”20″] The sixth-ranked Georgia women’s tennis team will hit the road this weekend for a pair of SEC matches at No. 9 Alabama and No. 39 Auburn. The match against the Crimson Tide is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., while the showdown against the Tigers is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The Bulldogs are 9-3 overall this season and 2-0 in SEC play after beating LSU and Texas A&M in Athens last weekend. Friday’s matchup with Alabama will pit Georgia against the Crimson Tide for the first time since the Bulldogs beat Alabama 4-0 in the SEC Tournament final last season. Georgia has already beat Auburn 4-0 during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend earlier this year.

Alabama holds a 9-2 record at this point of the season, including a 1-1 mark in the SEC after losing to Florida and beating South Carolina last weekend. The Crimson Tide boast two doubles teams ranked in the top-30 and are led in singles by No. 39 Erin Routliffe.

Auburn is 10-4 this season but 0-2 in the conference after dropping matches at South Carolina and Florida their last time out. No. 55 Pleum Burgmans is the Tigers’ headliner in singles play, and forms one half of the No. 8 doubles team in the nation alongside teammate Emily Flickinger. Senior Lauren Herring and freshman Ellen Perez defeated Burgmans and Flickinger 6-4 during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend back in January.

Herring, who finds herself ranked at No. 6 in singles and No. 25 in doubles, continues to lead the Bulldogs from the first courts with an impressive 8-1 record in dual singles and 6-3 record in dual doubles. The Greenville, N.C., native is currently riding an eight-match singles winning streak, having not lost a solo match since the season opener at Baylor.
