The first day of the Puerto Rico College Challenge was a good one for the Georgia women’s tennis team as the Bulldogs won all three doubles matches and went 4-2 in singles matches on the day.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The 16th-ranked pairing of Silvia Garcia and Kennedy Shaffer bested Illinois’ duo of Ines Vias and Louis Kwong by a 6-2 score. Ellen Perez and Mariana Gould, ranked No. 20, defeated Illini Alexis Casati and Jerricka Boone 6-4, and the pairing of Caroline Brinson and Hannah King (No. 51) topped UI’s Daniela Pedraza Novak and Jaclyn Switkes 6-3.

Perez (No. 29), King (No. 55), and Garcia (No. 58) all won in three sets, with Perez prevailing 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 over Casati, King conquering Kwong 4-6, 6-0, 6-4, and Garcia beating Vias after going the distance.
