[su_spacer size=”20″] The sixth-seeded Georgia women’s tennis team will face fourteenth-seeded Stanford in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

The Bulldogs (23-6) enter the match fresh off a 4-2 win over Michigan, while the Cardinal (18-5) arrives after upsetting No. 3 seeded California 4-3. These two storied programs last met in the quarterfinals of the 2013 NCAA Championships, with Stanford upsetting the lower-seeded Bulldogs 4-1 in Champaign, Ill.

Over half of the current Georgia roster will have no memory of that last defeat, however, and will be hoping to replicate their singles performances from Friday’s win over Michigan when all four underclassmen in the lineup earned points for the Bulldog cause. Georgia has not made it past the quarterfinal stage of the tournament since beating South Carolina 4-3 in 2009.

“Our team is really looking forward to playing Stanford tomorrow in the NCAA quarterfinals,” said head coach Jeff Wallace. “Everyone is playing really well at the moment and we’re hoping to take advantage of this opportunity that’s in front of us.”

Matches are played at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University.
