After reaching the semifinals of the ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championship for the third time in four years, the fourth-ranked Georgia women’s tennis team received another honor.
UGA’s doubles pair of senior Silvia Garcia and junior Caroline Brinson was named to the All-Tournament team at the No. 2 doubles court.
At the competition in Madison, Wisconsin, Garcia and Brinson went 3-0, finishing off their run at the tournament with a dominant 6-0 victory over North Carolina’s pair of Jessie Aney and Kate Vialle, ranked No. 16 at the time of the match. Garcia and Brinson also took two 6-3 victories at the indoor championship.
The pair was rewarded for its play in the latest ITA rankings, jumping into the polls at No. 33, one spot ahead of Georgia’s top doubles pair of Ellen Perez and Mariana Gould, who checked in at No. 34. On the season, Garcia and Brinson are now 4-0 with victories in four consecutive matches.
Georgia will return to action next Saturday (Feb. 20) at in-state rival Georgia Tech at 1 p.m.
