Fall tournament action continues for the Georgia women’s tennis team with competition in California tournaments starting Saturday.

 
The Bulldogs will be competing in the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships and a round-robin tournament hosted by the University of Southern California.
 
 
“We have more opportunities this weekend to see how we play and to look at different doubles combinations,” Georgia coach Jeff Wallace said. “We get to play some really high-level teams at this All-American tournament, some of the best teams and some of the best players. We’ll really get to see how we stack up, and we’ll have some great opportunities to learn about how we play this weekend.”
 
 
Elena Christofi is currently ranked No. 10 in the 2017 Oracle/ITA National Singles Preseason Rankings and has a record of 6-2. Laura Patterson is undefeated through six matches in singles, and Marta Gonzalez and Katarina Jokic are both leading the team in wins with a 7-1 mark. Also, the Christofi-Morgan Coppoc tandem is ranked No. 34 nationally with a 4-2 doubles record.
 
 
Based on last year’s results and ITA preseason rankings, Christofi will be competing in the singles and doubles main draw of the All-American event at the Riviera Tennis Club, which begins Oct. 5-8. She will pair with Coppoc in the main draw of doubles.
 
 
Four wildcard spots are also available for those that make it through the prequalifying draw (Sep. 30-Oct. 1) and the qualifying draw (Oct. 3-4). A player or duo must win three matches to advance in each draw.
 
 
Gonzalez, Patterson, Jokic and Mariana Gould are in the prequalifying singles while the team of Jokic-Gould and Gonzalez-Patterson are in prequalifying doubles.
 
 
The USC-UGA Challenge is set for September 30th through October 1st. It is a round-robin singles and doubles event on the USC campus. It will feature Georgia’s Vivian Wolff, Annette Goulak, and Coppoc competing. Coppoc currently holds a 4-3 singles record, Wolff is 5-3, and Goulak is 6-2.
 
 
The ITA/Riviera All-American event dates back to 1983 when Georgia’s Lisa Spain captured the first singles title, beating Heliane Steden (Southern California) in the final. The most recent Bulldog to reach the finals was Chelsey Gullickson in 2009. Also, Georgia has had a doubles team in the All-American final four times.
