The Georgia women’s tennis team opens up its spring season by facing New Mexico in the 2017 ITA Kick-Off Weekend today at 1 p.m. at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts.
 
 
The Bulldogs, ranked sixth in the ITA rankings, welcome the Georgia State Panthers, the Illinois Fighting Illini and the New Mexico Lobos for the four-team event that sends the winner to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Sixty women’s teams across the country will be competing for the right to qualify for the National Indoors that will be hosted February 10-13 by Yale University in New Haven, Conn.
 
 
The Panthers and the Fighting Illini square off first at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by the Georgia and New Mexico match shortly after Noon. The winners of both matches will meet in the Championship at 5 p.m. Sunday while the Consolation match is slotted for 9 a.m. Sunday.
 
 
Georgia holds a 17-1 all-time record in ITA Kick-Off Weekend events and a perfect 16-0 mark when the Bulldogs have played host in Athens.
