The Georgia women’s tennis team is set to begin its first of three fall competitions with the SEC Challenge hosted by Alabama at the Alabama Tennis Stadium beginning Friday, Oct. 9 and concluding on Sunday, Oct. 11. The Challenge will feature Kentucky and a conjoined team of Florida and Mississippi State along with the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide.
Competition will be a round-robin format with singles and doubles champions crowned at the conclusion of the event. More information on the number of competitors per match will be available closer to the beginning of match play. This will be the first team competition for the Bulldogs since the team swept Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss., earning head coach Jeff Wallace his career win No. 750, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Bulldogs return all competitors from last season, including seniors Marta Gonzalez and Elena Christofi, with freshman Ariana Arseneault set to make her collegiate tennis debut.
There will be no live scoring during the event. Live video will be posted later to the Georgia women’s tennis team’s social media accounts (@UGAWomensTennis) as well as final scores for each doubles and singles match.
