WTENNIS: Georgia Beats Georgia Southern 6-1

The No. 5 women’s Georgia team defeated Georgia Southern 6-1 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Wednesday afternoon to improve to 4-1 on the season.
 
In doubles, both Bulldog duos completed 6-0 sweeps of their Eagle opponents. Junior Meg Kowalski and sophomore Lea Ma defeated Hannah Daniel and Nadja Meier, while the No. 37 ranked duo of senior Morgan Coppoc and graduate Elena Chrisotfi bested Paula Boixander and Soja Keranen. Senior Katarina Jokic and freshman Ariana Arseneault went unfinished on court one.
 
Singles was played out with Jokic taking down Boixander 6-3, 6-0. No. 31 Ma went up against Charlotte Van Diemen and bested her 6-3, 6-1, and No. 60 Kowalski defeated Meier 6-3, 6-1. No. 73 Coppoc took down Mia Harting 6-2, 6-2, and Christofi rounded out the singles wins with a win over Elizabeth Goines 6-0, 7-6(3). Arseneault was the lone Bulldog to fall, losing 6-2, 6-4.
 
The Bulldogs will begin conference play on Sunday, Feb. 21 against No. 19 Tennessee at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex with first serve set for 1 p.m. Limited fan capacity will be set for 275 fans based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
