WTENNIS: Georgia Takes On Texas A&M in Tuscaloosa

The No. 3 Georgia women’s tennis team is set to conclude the 2021 regular season with a makeup match against No. 17 Texas A&M on Sunday, April 18 at 4 p.m. ET in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
 
The match was originally scheduled to be played on March 14 in College Station, Texas and will serve as the first neutral site match for Georgia this season.
 
The Aggies will take on Georgia with an ITA ranking of No. 17 and a 16-5 overall record, 8-3 in conference play. The last time these two squads faced off was in 2019 with a 4-0 Bulldog victory. Georgia leads the all-time series 14-1.
 
Texas A&M has one singles player ranked in Tatiana Makarova who comes in at No. 24. In doubles, Jayci Goldsmith and Makarova lead the way at No. 39 and Jessica Anzo and Makarova come in at No. 79.
 
In the latest ITA and USTA polls, the Bulldogs did not move from their No. 3. In singles, senior Katarina Jokic leads the Bulldogs at No. 4 with junior Meg Kowalski right behind her at No. 16. Senior Morgan Coppoc jumped up to No. 54 and sophomore Lea Ma comes in at No. 60. Graduate Marta Gonzalez rounds out the singles rankings at No. 63. In doubles, Jokic and freshman Ariana Arseneault remain in the top-10 at No. 8 as well as Jokic and sophomore Ania Hertel coming in at No. 33.
 
Last time out, the Bulldogs celebrated two season milestones. Georgia won their eleventh SEC regular season title after defeating Alabama on Thursday, April 8 and honored three seniors, Elena Christofi, Gonzalez and Jokic, against No. 17 Auburn on April 10 for senior day.
 
Georgia will remain in Tuscaloosa for the SEC tournament where they will serve as the No. 1 overall seed. A bracket and match times will be announced a later date.
