Vivian Wolff of the top-ranked Georgia women’s tennis team was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, announced Wednesday by the conference.
The
weekly honor highlights Wolff’s dominant performance in both singles and doubles as the only player in the SEC to go 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles this past weekend. Furthermore, she has accomplished that feat in four-straight weekends, totaling to 16
victories. Wolff, ranked No. 46 in ITA singles, continues SEC play undefeated with an 8-0 record and a 15-1 dual mark.
Wolff,
of Frankfurt, Germany, launched Georgia to its sweep of the state of Alabama with 4-0 wins against both Alabama and Auburn. She complemented strength with speed as the first one off the court in both matches and dropping only three games in doing so. Wolff
now maintains a team-best 23-3 mark in her sophomore campaign.
Singles
have only followed her accolades in doubles play with Elena Christofi. On the No. 2 court, the pair extended its win streak to 10 matches and remains undefeated at 10-0. The twosome lost only three games in both matches this past weekend, picking up their
sixth clinch of the season against Auburn.
The
award marks Georgia’s fifth weekly award of the season and Wolff’s first ever.
