GEOFF COLLINS – Collins is now in his third season as head coach of the Yellow Jackets and to be frank, things are not getting better. Transitioning out of a triple option offense is difficult but this year has been a total let down for GT. The Jackets head into the matchup with Georgia at 3-8 on the year, following a 55-0 loss against Notre Dame in South Bend. Their defense has been borderline atrocious this season as well. If Georgia completely embarrasses Georgia Tech on Saturday, Collins’ job could be in jeopardy. This is a crucial game for him and his future.

JEFF SIMS/JORDAN YATES (QB) – Sims is Georgia Tech’s usual starter but missed the game against Notre Dame, forcing Jordan Yates to start. Yates only threw for 96 yards on 28 attempts and had a QBR of 4.8, which is really bad, in the loss. If Sims is healthy, he can be a more consistent passer and can also use his legs as well. However, either will be facing the No. 1 defense in the country looking to finish an undefeated regular season.

JAHMYR GIBBS (RB #1) – Gibbs is probably Georgia Tech’s best offensive player and leads them in rushing yards as well as receiving yards. The freshman from Dalton, Georgia can burn people with his speed and that has been on display the last few weeks. Georgia’s linebackers will likely key in on Gibbs and for good reason. It should be a good test for the Bulldogs.

KYRIC McGOWAN (WR #2) – As a graduate senior, McGowan brings experience to the Yellow Jackets. They use him about as much as they use Gibbs and Malachi Carter as their leading receivers. What sets McGowan apart is his knack for getting in the endzone. He has seven touchdowns this season, leading Georgia Tech in that category. He will have to try and do that against Georgia’s Derion Kendrick and Kelee Ringo, who have both played well this season.

QUEZ JACKSON (LB #4) – Jackson enters the matchup with Georgia as Tech’s leading tackler. This season, he has 96 tackles and two fumble recoveries. The Georgia Tech defense has struggled mightily recently and Jackson will be a big part of trying to fix that solution.

CHARLIE THOMAS (LB #25) – Tech is not a team that racks up many sacks but Thomas leads the way with three this season. He also has 64 total tackles to add to that. Stopping Georgia’s offense might not be realistic for Georgia Tech, but if they want a chance, Jackson and Thomas will need big games.
