What life lessons did you learn while at UGA?

Most importantly, learning how to balance work and life. My work may not be traditional work, but as a teenager in a town like Athens and having to compete against the best college golfers in the nation, you have to learn your priorities, or you’re sitting on the bench. I think the atmosphere the UGA coaches created is the main reason why we have more success stories than other schools at the professional level.

What professor did you most admire?

Coach DeMoss: Current UGA Assistant Men’s Golf Coach, Professor of all things strategy, preparation, and mentality.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Graduating from UGA and marrying my wife! (Not in order)

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Thomas Carlyle: quite confused but if you look hard enough, sometimes insightful?

Who are your heroes in real life?

My dad and my grandfather. My dad taught me the game of golf at a young age, and I looked up to grandfather on how he lived every second of every day with 100% enthusiasm.

Quote to live by:

Very applicable to my profession … considering a double bogey or birdie can be waiting on the very next swing.

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

An old bottle of Bordeaux, great friends, and better stories.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Attention to Detail.

What do you most value in your friends?

How good they are at giving each other a hard time.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Make a few less bogeys!

Who are your favorite writers?

Thomas Carlyle, Bob Rotella, and Ben Franklin. The only books I’ve completed are Sartor Resartus and a few of Dr. Bob’s golf books, and about half of Ben Franklin’s autobiography.

Fave social media and who to follow?

@‌Howlinone: great vintage golf hats for sale.

@‌Short Game Chef: my short game coach with lots of good tips.

@‌NotoriousFoodie: dishes I wish I could eat, let alone cook.

@‌UGAGolf: the best way to keep up with the future Georgia PGA Tour Players.
