BSB: The Citadel Visits Foley Field Today

Georgia, ranked as high as No. 5 nationally this week, returns to action Tuesday at Foley Field when the Citadel Bulldogs visit. The first pitch will be at 3 p.m. and will be available on SECN+ and the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.
The Bulldogs (17-4) are 16-4 at home this year and coming off a thrilling series win over No. 21 Tennessee. After dropping the opener 7-4, Georgia bounced back to win the next two contests, 4-2 and 8-7. In the series, Georgia hit five home runs, had a .284 batting average plus a 5.33 ERA. Georgia fielded .991 with just one error, and that was on a catcher’s interference.
The Citadel (8-9) claimed a series 2-1 over UT-Martin. The Citadel Bulldogs are 1-3 against SEC opponents this season. Earlier this month, they were swept by No. 21 Kentucky (10-5, 12-7, and 13-5) in Lexington, and last Tuesday posted an 8-3 win over South Carolina in Charleston.
Georgia holds a 3-1 edge in the all-time series against the Bulldogs, with the lone meeting at Foley Field coming in 2000 (16-7 Georgia win). The teams last met at SRP Park (North Augusta, S.C.) in 2019, and Georgia blanked The Citadel 9-0.
Georgia Leads Nation In Home Runs, Slugging, and Fielding
*Georgia has hit an NCAA-leading 66 home runs to go with a .692 SLG% and a .991 FLDG%. Also, the Bulldogs rank fifth nationally with a .473 OB%.
*For the season, Georgia is batting .343 (8th nationally) and ranks third nationally in runs (221). Meanwhile, The Citadel is batting .256 with 11 home runs, 106 runs scored, a .376 SLG%, a .365 OB% and .968 FLDG%. The Citadel likes to run, tallying 41 stolen bases in 51 attempts and can move baserunners with a bunt (25 SH).
*Georgia is averaging an NCAA-leading 3.14 Home Runs per Game (HR/G) in 2026. The 2025 squad averaged 2.40 HR/G while the 2024 team averaged 2.52 HR/G. Georgia’s past two squads ranked 1-2 in school history in home runs with 151 in 2024 and 144 in 2025.

*Georgia leads the nation with five shutouts and is ninth nationally in strikeouts/nine innings (12.1).
*Brown’s last appearance came against Queens in March when he provided two scoreless innings. This will be his third start as part of a staff outing. His last start came in an 11-0 win over Oakland on Feb. 28 when he tossed four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, a walk and struck out seven.
*The Citadel has a 4.71 ERA with 138 strikeouts and 82 walks. Opponents are hitting .243.
Georgia Hitters To Watch
*Junior C/OF Daniel Jackson (.415-14-36, 11 SB) led the nation in home runs (14), ranks second in runs (32) and total bases (80) and is fourth in RBI (36) and sixth in SLG% (.976). Also, Jackson has a career-best 18-game hitting streak.
*Senior UTIL Brennan Hudson (.333-11-24) ranks fourth nationally with a 1.021 SLG%. Of his 16 hits on the year, 11 are home runs.
*Junior 3B Tre Phelps (.387-8-24) ranks sixth nationally with 14 hit-by-pitches. He saw his 27-game hitting streak dating to the 2025 season end against WCU on March 4 (0-3 with a BB and HBP), while a 19-game on-base streak ended this past Saturday against No. 21 UT.
Georgia A Consensus Top 10 Team Again In The National Polls This Week
*Currently, Georgia is ranked No. 5 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll, No. 6 by Baseball America and Perfect Game and No. 7 by D1Baseball. The Bulldogs are in their third season under Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson.
