Key Quotes
Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On Cole Johnson’s series-securing catch in the ninth…
“Initially, I didn’t think it was a no-doubter. I thought he caught the ball off the end of the bat. When Cole was going back, he works on that stuff. He gets after it in batting practice and works on that. Then when I saw him make the catch, I couldn’t believe it.”

On his thoughts during his game-winning catch…
“I knew it was going to be right up against the wall, and if it was a homer, it wasn’t going to be out by much. I was just trying to get my back against the wall as quick as I could.”

On his mindset of this win…
“It’s not the good things in life that make who you are, it’s the bad stuff. Once you start having that bad stuff happen to you and you start having a little bit of adversity, that’s when you come back stronger. It means a lot for us to get this series.”

WBB: UGA Receives Invite to NCAA tournament

The Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team has garnered the No. 7 seed in Iowa City, Iowa and will play the winner of the play-in game between No. 10 seeds Virginia and Arizona State in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
First-round games will be played Saturday, with second-round matchups set to take place on Monday. Game times and television designations will be announced later this evening.
The Lady Bulldogs are making their 37th appearance in the Big Dance, a total that is tied for third most among all NCAA Division I women’s basketball programs. Georgia ranks seventh in tourney wins with 59 and fifth nationally in total games played with 96. This is the program’s second appearance under the leadership of head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.
Coach ABE earns her 13th NCAA tournament bid as a head coach. She is one of just four head coaches in women’s basketball history to have led four different programs to the NCAA tournament.
This year’s Georgia team is led by four players with double-figure scoring totals, paced by All-SEC First Team member Dani Carnegie. The sophomore guard averages 18.1 points per game, the highest single-season average for a Georgia player since Tasha Humphrey in 2006.
The Lady Bulldogs boasted a nine-win improvement compared to last season — the best turnaround in school history and the best in the SEC from last year to this year.
With a 22-9 overall record, Georgia has recorded three wins against top 20 teams, with victories against No. 16 Ole Miss, No. 11 Kentucky, and No. 5 Vanderbilt. It is the most top 20 wins for the program in a single season since 2010-11.
MBB: Georgia Receives At-Large NCAA Bid

The Georgia Bulldogs received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday as the No. 8 seed in the Midwest Regional. Georgia will play its Round of 64 game against Saint Louis on Thursday at KeyBank Center in Buffalo.
Game time and TV information will be released later tonight.
“(We’re) excited to still be playing,” head coach Mike White said. “Excited to represent University of Georgia in the NCAA Tournament. Continue to love coaching these guys. We’re playing a dangerous team, and we’re pretty dangerous ourselves. We had a great regular season and had a great fight the other day, after a really slow start in the SEC Tournament. We’re just honored to have another chance to see where this thing takes us. Excited for these guys to be able to compete again together.”
Officially, this will be the Bulldogs’ 11th NCAA Tournament appearance, including a trip to the Final Four in 1983. Last season, Georgia earned its first NCAA bid in a decade as the No. 9 seed in the Midwest Regional.
Below are selected quotes from Coach White, Cain and Millender.
Head Coach Mike White
Opening Statement:
“Excited to still be playing. Excited to represent University of Georgia in the NCAA Tournament.
On Saint Louis and the tournament field:
“Honestly, I haven’t had a chance to study it. I haven’t seen Saint Louis play this year. I do know the background of Coach [Josh] Schertz, and I know their offensive numbers. Usually are pretty impressive, right? For a team to win that many games, defensively, I’m sure they present problems too, so I’m just excited to get upstairs as soon as we’re done talking here and get to learn Saint Louis as much as possible here in a short period of time.”
On the confidence he has in his team:
“We’re a good team, and I’m sure our opponent feels the same way. We’ve beaten a lot of good teams, and we’ve almost beaten some others. We’re sitting here with a bunch of quad ones and quad twos, and again, just coming off a performance where you wish we had a little bit more momentum going in. That said, the fight in the last 30 minutes of the game the other day was really, really impressive. There’s not many teams in the country that can find themselves down 23 points in a conference tournament and make it a one possession game and have a chance down the stretch. This team’s very resilient. We’ve got good players. I think we’ve got underrated guys. I hate to say that in the portal era, but it’s true. I believe in these guys. We’re talented, we’re skilled. We’ve got some toughness, and this team has gotten better throughout the year, so hopefully we can continue to show that.”
No. 0 Blue Cain | Jr.. | Guard
On how his experience in the NCAA tournament last year will help the team this year:
“I think last year was a tough loss. It happened really fast. I think just not really taking it for granted, just really being locked in. Knowing that it is a cool experience, but we have to be ready to play from the tip. Just make sure we’re locked in. Enjoy the experience but also being really ready to compete and perform.”
No. 4 Marcus “Smurf” Millender | Jr. | G
On playing in the NCAA tournament for the first time:
“It’s a real moment. As a kid, I always wanted to play in NCAA tournaments and be on the biggest stage possible in college basketball. This is a real moment.”
The Bulldogs will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year, just the fourth time Georgia has earned bids to back-to-back tournaments. The Bulldogs also did so in 1990-91, 1996-97 and 2001-02.
The 2025-26 Bulldogs are already the winningest and highest-scoring team in 121 seasons of Georgia Basketball. The Bulldogs secured their 22nd regular-season win at Mississippi State on March 7, surpassing the 1930-31 and 1996-97 teams’ school records. Georgia also broke its single-season mark for most points in Starkville. The Bulldogs have now scored 2,874 points in 32 games, besting the 2,764 points scored in 37 games during the 2023-24 campaign.
Jeremiah Wilkinson leads a quartet of Bulldogs scoring in double figures at 17.0 ppg, followed by Blue Cain with 13.3 ppg, Kanon Catchings at 12.0 ppg and Marcus “Smurf” Millender at 11.9 ppg. Ten different Bulldogs have combined to produce 130 double-figure scoring outputs this season.
Mike White has now led teams to postseason bids in 12 of 14 seasons as a head coach, including NCAA bids in six of the last nine campaigns. In addition, he had Florida poised for a single-digit NCAA seed in 2020, when the tourney was canceled due to COVID-19.
