The 23rd-ranked Georgia Bulldogs walked off the Florida Gators 7-6 to take game one of the weekend series on Thursday evening at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia.

The crowd showed up early and loud for the match-up against the Gators. 3,610 spectators were in attendance at Foley Field.





“It was a great win,” said head coach Scott Stricklin. Georgia had 11 hits on the night and was able to salvage seven runs. Georgia secured their third walk-off victory of the season.

Garrett Brown started on the mound for the Dawgs. Brown went three innings giving up two runs. Luke Wagner then took over the mound for Georgia and pitched 3.1 innings. Wagner gave up two runs but notched four strikeouts. Jaden Woods came in relief and secured the victory for the Dawgs. Woods worked 2.2 innings giving up two runs and striking out four.

Georgia struck first in the first inning of the game. Ben Anderson hit a leadoff solo home run to start the game off for the Dawgs. Cole Tate followed with a triple. Corey Collins plated Tate with a single shot through right field. The Dawgs led 2-0 after the first inning.

Florida struck back in the third inning and tied the game. A pair of RBI singles put the Gators on the board. In the bottom of the fourth, Parks Harber hit a solo shot over the right field wall to extend the Dawgs lead to 3-2. In the sixth inning, Chaney Rogers sent one to the moon for another solo home run to give Georgia the 4-2 lead. In the seventh inning the Gators answered back with a two-run home run from Mac Guscette to tie the game at four.

In the top of the ninth, Florida extended their lead to 6-4 following another two-run home run to left field by Jud Fabian.

Bottom of the ninth with two outs and runners on first and second DH Garrett Blaylock hit a single shot through left field scoring Cole Tate. Josh McAllister stepped up to the plate with two outs and two runners on. McAllister hit a line drive down the left-field line scoring Connor Tate and Blaylock to walk-off the Gators.

Georgia will be back in action Friday, April 1st for game two against Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
