Bulldogs Depth Encouraging for Scott Stricklin

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin

As preseason begins for the Bulldogs baseball team, Ike Cousins Head Coach Scott Stricklin is very encouraged by how everyone is competing and the depth that he has on the roster.

Although the Bulldogs only have three upperclassmen on the roster, they still have great expectations for the upcoming season. Infielder LJ Talley said that the freshmen have brought in a new energy and that is really helping push the team.
However, the sentiment of the incoming freshmen group being a jolt to the team is not only in the minds of the players but also the coaches. Stricklin said that it should not be a surprise to see up to seven freshmen playing out the field in a game. While having such a young group may seem troublesome, Stricklin is excited about this group that he has recruited in since they were freshmen in high school.
Two stars in the class are shortstop Cam Shepherd and pitcher Tony Locey, who both had outstanding showings in the Bulldogs’ Fall Classic in October of last year.
The Bulldogs finished this past offseason with the No. 3 recruiting class in the country and this talented freshmen bunch should fight for plenty of playing time as the season progresses.
Having such a talent group of freshmen has given the Bulldogs’ a lot of depth and Stricklin says it’s the most he’s ever had.
This young Bulldogs roster could struggle or rise to the occasion and it will be interesting to see what they do this season.
