Who are the Bulldogs to watch for the annual Clean Old-Fashioned Hate game between UGA and GT?

 

LORENZO CARTER (OLB, #7)

 
Since he entered Georgia after an All-America prep career at Norcross High, Carter has started in each of his four seasons at the outside linebacker spot. In that time, the 6-6, 243-pound Carter has had his good moments and bad. Along with fellow outside LB Davin Bellamy, Carter was indeed a defensive force in the Bulldogs’ win at Notre Dame and also sparkled in the one-sided wins over Missouri and Florida (9 tackles), among others. However, in other games, such as the wins over Tennessee (zero tackles) and South Carolina (1 tackle) and in the loss to Auburn, Carter seemed to almost be a non-factor for the Georgia defense. In the final regular-season game of his UGA career, Lorenzo Carter needs to play big and “set the edge” when the Yellow Jackets come on the corner with the option pitch or a quarterback run by TaQuon Marshall.
 

DAVIN BELLAMY (OLB, #17)

 
On the other side of the Bulldogs’ defensive front Bellamy, like his fellow outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter, has had his ups-and-downs. He teamed with Carter to wreak havoc on Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush and has been a fairly steady force for the Bulldogs’ talented defense the season long. And yet, there have been games the 6-5, 245-pound senior hasn’t performed to his full potential, again, the recent Auburn game being one such game. Also in the final regular-season outing of his Georgia career Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium, a huge game from Bellamy would go a long ways in the Bulldogs slowing down Georgia Tech’s potent triple-option attack.
 
 

ISAIAH WYNN (OT, #77)

 
On the other side of the ball Saturday Wynn, with his senior experience and leadership on the O-line, must spur the Georgia offense to move and control the football against an improved Yellow Jacket defensive front. In their last road game, at Auburn, Wynn and his fellow linemen couldn’t create any running space for the Bulldog backs, or a whole lot of protection for Jake Fromm, either. It is essential they do so this Saturday as Georgia strives to move the ball consistently and thereby keep the Tech offense on the sidelines.
 

SHANE BEAMER (Tight Ends/Special Teams Coach)

 
Although Beamer’s tight end corps have been targeted infrequently this season by QB Fromm, they have provided outstanding blocking for the Bulldogs’ potent running attack. And Beamer’s special team units have excelled throughout Georgia’s SEC East Division championship season … in kick coverage, place-kicking and punting. It goes without saying the Bulldogs special teams play will need to be at the top of its game on the flats Saturday if Georgia is to avoid a second straight loss to the hated Jackets.
