While football often commands the spotlight in Athens, the success of University of Georgia athletics stretches far beyond the gridiron. From national championships to top-ranked teams, Bulldog programs across multiple sports are thriving this spring.
BASEBALL
Georgia baseball has been one of the hottest teams in the SEC and country this spring under head coach Wes Johnson. The Bulldogs have surged through conference play, including a sweep of No. 4 Mississippi State in Starkville and a key series win over South Carolina.
Georgia’s offense has been one of the most productive in the conference, led by catcher/outfielder Daniel Jackson, who has been among the SEC leaders in home runs and RBIs, along with standout hitters like Tre Phelps and Henry Allen. Michael O’Shaughnessy delivered one of the season’s most dramatic moments with a go-ahead three-RBI home run in the 10th inning during the series finale against Mississippi State.
Johnson, now in his third season leading the Bulldogs, has helped energize the program and guided Georgia back into the national conversation with one of the deepest rosters in the country
MEN’S AND WOMENS BASKETBALL
Both Georgia basketball programs reached the NCAA Tournament this season. The men’s team, led by head coach Mike White, finished the year 22–11 overall and 10–8 in SEC play, marking the Bulldogs’ second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Georgia’s women’s program also returned to the NCAA Tournament after finishing 22–9 overall and 8–8 in conference play while earning a national ranking. Following the season, the Lady Bulldogs made a major move by hiring new head coach Ayla Guzzardo to lead the program into its next era. This past season, Guzzardo led McNeese State to the best single-season turnaround in NCAA Division I’s women’s basketball with a school-record 29 wins.
TRACK & FIELD
Georgia track and field delivered one of the biggest highlights of the year at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships. Led by head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert, the Bulldog women captured the national title with 52 points, finishing ahead of Oregon, Illinois and Arkansas.
Individually, Dejanea Oakley won the 400 meters while setting a national record, and redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge claimed the NCAA title in the 200 meters. Several strong scoring performances across sprint and relay events helped Georgia secure the team championship.
SOFTBALL
Under head coach Tony Baldwin, Georgia softball has remained ranked among the nation’s top teams this season while navigating a challenging SEC schedule.
Offensively, Emily Digby has delivered key hits and home runs in conference play, while pitcher Addison Fisher has been a consistent presence in the circle.
EQUESTRIAN
Georgia equestrian, led by head coach Meghan Boenig, advanced to the SEC Equestrian Championship before falling to Texas A&M. The Bulldogs now turn their focus to the upcoming NCEA Championships as they look to compete for another national title.
Standout riders such as Jordan Carpenter and Sara Lewis have helped lead Georgia throughout the season with strong performances in both jumping seat and horsemanship events.
GYMNASTICS
The GymDogs, led by co-head coaches Cecile Canqueteau-Landi and Ryan Roberts, scored a 197.750 at the NCAA Tempe Regional to qualify for the National Championships in Fort Worth (April 16-18), marking the program’s first semifinal appearance in seven years.
Autumn Reingold tied a career high with a 9.975 on bars, while Harley Tomlin and Nylah Aquino each posted 9.950s on floor during the regional competition.
Additionally, four GymDogs earned All-American honors: junior Lily Smith and freshman CaMarah Williams earned First Team All-America on floor exercise and freshmen Kelise Woolford (beam) and Autumn Reingold (bars) earned Second Team All-America honors.
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TENNIS
Georgia’s tennis programs have also been strong this spring. The women’s team, led by head coach Drake Bernstein, has been ranked No. 1 nationally while building an impressive home winning streak with SEC victories over Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn and Florida. Senior Anastasiia Lopata has delivered several strong performances, including a 6–1, 6–4 singles victory against Kentucky.
The men’s team, coached by Jamie Hunt, has also picked up key conference wins over Tennessee and Arkansas as the Bulldogs continue SEC play. Will Jansen is ranked No. 30 in singles as of early 2026.
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S GOLF
Georgia’s golf teams have continued to post strong results this spring. The men’s team, coached by Chris Haack, captured the team title at the Linger Longer Invitational, where senior Carter Loflin dominated the field to win the individual championship. The Bulldogs also claimed the team title at the Southern Intercollegiate at Athens Country Club.
On the women’s side, coached by Erikia Brennan, standout Trinity Beth earned SEC Golfer of the Week honors after shooting 10-under 206 to win the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic and lead Georgia to both the individual and team titles.
