With the Early Signing Period in the review mirror for the University of Georgia football program and 17 signees on board the red and black train, the focus is now on the march up to National Signing Day in February to put the cherry on top of the 2020 recruiting class for the Bulldogs. But before that Wednesday in February, there are several big names who will be announcing their decision during the Under Armour All-American Game on Thursday, January 2nd, 2020.
Desert Pines High School, Las Vegas, Nevada athlete and tight end Darnell Washington reportedly signed his Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period with the school of his choice privately but wanted to wait to announce who that program was during the all-star game.
Washington likely signed with one of his final top-schools, which included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, and Tennessee. On Sunday, 247Sports Barton Simmons put in his crystal ball prediction for Washington to UGA. And if you give weight to those CBs, he is currently a 94% “lock” to announce that he signed with the Bulldogs.
Given the fact that Georgia loses senior tight end Charlie Woerner and graduate transfer Eli Wolf after the Sugar Bowl, the 6-foot-8 and 261 lbs Washington, who is rated a 5-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals, would be a huge pick up for Kirby Smart and his staff to address that position.
Another prospect also announcing during the Under Armour All-America Game is Raytown High School, Kansas City, MO defensive back Dontae Manning. At one time, Manning was favored to Georgia, but now it appears Oregon has the momentum with three crystal balls to the Ducks from 247Sports experts since December 17th.
North Shore, five-star running back Zachary Evans will also be announcing his decision a week from this Thursday on January 2nd. We discussed Evans’ recruitment in Sunday’s Daily Dawg Thread, click here in case you missed it, and it appears UGA is favored again for the 5-foot-11 and 200 lbs senior from the Houston, TX area.
If the Bulldogs land Evans and Washington next week, that would potentially move them into one of the top-3 recruiting classes for 2020 in the team rankings. And the Dawgs are likely not done either.
Tomorrow, on Tuesday, we will take a look at the 2020 Georgia targets that plan to announce their decision during the All-American Bowl Game on Saturday, January 4th, 2020.
