BSB: It’s 14th-Ranked Oklahoma vs. No. 10 Georgia This Weekend at Foley

The 10th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (33-10, 10-8 SEC) aim to snap a season-long four-game losing streak when No. 14 Oklahoma makes its first trip to Foley Field for an SEC series starting Thursday at 7:02 p.m. on ESPNU. Game two of the series will be Friday at 6:02 (SECN+), and the series concludes Saturday with a 12:02 first pitch on SEC Network.

Also, on Saturday, the Bulldogs will hold their annual Lettermen’s Day, with special recognition of the 1990 national championship team, the first SEC team to win a baseball title. Around 18 Bulldogs from that team are expected to attend, marking the 35th anniversary of the title. Also, Pam Webber, the wife of the late Coach Steve Webber, and Patricia Rebhan, the wife of the late 1990 College World Series Most Outstanding Player Mike Rebhan, will also be attending.

Georgia and Oklahoma have never met in baseball. The Bulldogs went 1-4 during a five-game road swing that ended this past Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to second-ranked Clemson. It marked the first time Georgia had been shutout this year. After roaring out to a 29-2 start, Georgia is 4-8 in its last 12 games, getting swept at No. 5 Texas and #19 Vanderbilt with a series win over top-ranked Arkansas in Athens mixed in between those series. Georgia is ranked #1 in the NCAA RPI while OU is No. 27. The Sooners fell 5-3 at home to Oral Roberts in their midweek contest. Last week in SEC action, they posted a road sweep of Missouri (13-26, 0-18 SEC).

The Bulldogs are batting .294 with a .574 slugging percentage and an NCAA-leading 105 home runs. They have a .425 OB% with 242 walks, have been hit 93 times, plus are 50-for-56 in stolen bases. OU is batting .293 with a .485 slugging percentage, including 50 home runs. The leading hitters for the Sooners are Trey Gambill (.336-3-19, 10 SB), Jaxon Willits (.333-9-39, 12 SB), and Easton Carmichael (.325-10-45, 11 SB). Freshman Kyle Branch (.302-2-22) is the younger brother of Bulldog shortstop Kolby Branch (.304-8-24). OU is 96-for-116 in stolen base attempts.

The Bulldogs have posted a 4.94 ERA with 450 Ks and 195 BBs. Opponents are batting .231 against Georgia. OU has a 4.28 ERA with 399 Ks and 147 BBs this season. Opponents are batting .245 against the Sooners with 31 home runs. OU features one of the league’s top closers in Dylan Crooks (2-0, 1.31 ERA, 9 Saves). Georgia’s fielding percentage is .982, while the Sooners are fielding .972.

WTEN: Dasha Vidmanova Wins SEC Player of the Year Award

The Georgia women’s tennis team had five Bulldogs earn Southeastern Conference postseason honors, headlined by Dasha Vidmanova winning the SEC Player of the Year Award, the SEC announced Wednesday.

Vidmanova, a senior from Prague, Czech Republic, had a standout senior season as she finished the spring as the ITA No. 1 singles player and No. 2 in doubles with Mell Reasco while taking two SEC Player of the Week Awards during the regular season. Posting a 17-4 singles record while going 12-2 in SEC play, Vidmanova tallied 10 wins against ranked opponents while earning three victories over top 10 foes. In doubles, Vidmanova notched a 21-3 dual match record while going 11-2 in conference play, capping off the regular season on a seven-match win streak along with 10 ranked doubles victories. After leading the Bulldogs to the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Team Championship, Vidmanova became the first and only player in program history to win a team, singles, and doubles national title during her collegiate career.

In his second year at the helm, head coach Drake Bernstein earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year for a second consecutive season. Bernstein led Georgia to a 23-3 record and the 2025 SEC Tournament title, earning his second and the program’s 11th all-time while also securing a conference tournament three-peat after winning in 2023 and 2024. Bernstein’s resume now includes one SEC regular season, two SEC tournament titles, one ITA Indoor National title, and two SEC Coach of the Year awards while totaling a 48-8 overall record through two seasons in charge.

Junior Sofia Rojas was named SEC Newcomer of the Year following a strong first season in Athens after coming from Oklahoma State. Rojas produced a 23-8 overall singles record while going 15-4 in dual match play and 6-3 in conference action. She also opened the spring with a statement, 10 consecutive victories, before taking 11 of her wins this season in straight sets. The junior made noise as a key piece on the back end of the Bulldogs’ singles lineup, playing her way into prime position at court six as one of the nation’s best newcomers.

Vidmanova, alongside junior Anastasiia Lopata and senior Mell Reasco, all rounded out the SEC postseason awards after being tabbed All-SEC First Team honorees. Vidmanova and Reasco each secured a fourth conference team honor for their collegiate careers, earning their third and second first-team recognition, respectively. Lopata’s stellar junior campaign put her in a prime position to receive her first first-team honor after landing on the conference second-team in 2024.
