WBB: Dawgs Fall To Vols in OT

- Carnegie’s 25-point effort tonight marks her 11th, 20+ point game this season. Georgia is 8-3 when Carnegie scores 20 or more points.

Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson
On Mia’s performance tonight and the team’s trust in her…
“Mia’s a bucket. She’s a human bucket. She just can’t get in foul trouble. She only played 20 minutes tonight. So she’s always like that. Everybody trusts her to get the ball. Everybody trusts her to finish and score on that low block. I thought she personally got fouled a bunch. She probably could have got some more in ones. But yeah, that really hurt us tonight, her not being in. She only played 21 minutes.”
On Savannah Henderson’s perfromance tonight and her contributions to the team…
“I don’t know any kid that would do what she did. You have two ACLs and a meniscus and come back and want to play. So, she’s finally getting kind of her body under her. That whole thing is very hard, having to go through it mentally and even wanting to do it. She lifts every day, double time. I think now she’s starting to feel more comfortable, getting in the traffic and going in there without having to lose balls and stuff. I think tonight she played a really good game. She had two offensive rebounds against Tennessee and three defensive rebounds.”
Rylie Theuerkauf | Guard | Junior | #14
On emphasis on boards in practice…
“Just boxing out. We did box-out drills all week long. Luckily, we had a bye, so we got to work on it and we just locked in. We were tougher, so I think we just went out there and tried to box out and do our jobs and just know that they’re taller and stronger, at least for me, so I just have to go out and be physical.”
On how proud she is of the team…
“From one to 12, we can all play at any night. Our best night could be anybody and I think we’re just so lucky to have a deep bench. Just anybody can really have their night any night, so I think that we just have confidence in everybody, so no matter what happens, we just know the next person up’s gonna do great.”
What’s Next
The Lady Bulldogs will go on a two-game road stint, starting off in Columbus, Missouri, against the Missouri Tigers. The game will be played at Mizzou Arena, Sunday, Feb. 8, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time.
