T/F: Dawgs Number 2 in First Indoor Poll

Both the Georgia men and women debuted at No. 2 in the first 2026 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national indoor poll on Tuesday.

The Bulldog men sit behind Tennessee and in front of Kansas State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M in the top five.  On the women’s side, Georgia is second in the polls behind Illinois with South Carolina, Clemson and BYU comprising the rest of the top five.

The UGA men were last ranked No. 2 in a seasonal poll on March 7, 2022.  That season, the Bulldogs also held another No. 2 weekly ranking and a No. 1 ranking during the regular season before taking eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships during Director of Track & Field Carly Smith Gilbert’s first season in Athens.

The Georgia women last held a No. 2 indoor ranking on Feb. 24, 2020.  In fact, the Lady Bulldogs were ranked No. 2 in three other polls that year as well.  However, the NCAA Indoor Championships were canceled a day before they were set to begin due to COVID-19 concerns.

During the 2025 indoor season, the Georgia men and women each finished second at the NCAA Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.  The Lady Bulldogs parlayed that finish into their third Southeastern Conference outdoor title and their first outdoor national championship last June in Eugene, Ore.

The Bulldogs return to action this weekend at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.  The postseason begins with the SEC Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas, on Feb. 26-28.  The indoor season will conclude with the NCAA Championships back on the University of Arkansas campus on March 13-14.
