2026 Schedule Lookahead: Missouri Brings a Physical Test Georgia Needs to Answer

By Greg Poole
Georgia hosts Missouri on Nov. 14, and this game has rebound written all over it. If the Bulldogs are coming off a loss at Ole Miss, the stakes become obvious. If they escaped Oxford, the stakes are still obvious. Missouri is too sturdy, too well-coached, and too physical to become a footnote on the schedule.
This is the kind of matchup that asks whether Georgia can win without relying on flash. Missouri has built a reputation for making games uncomfortable, and Georgia should expect a fight at the line of scrimmage. The Bulldogs’ response has to be direct. Block better. Tackle better. Win third down. Do not spend three quarters trying to prove style points to a scoreboard that does not care.
Offensively, Georgia’s line has to set the tone. This is a game where the Bulldogs need the run game to become a weapon, not just a tendency. Nate Frazier can stress Missouri with speed, but the tougher yards from Chauncey Bowens may be just as important. If Georgia controls tempo, the defense can stay fresh, and Missouri has to chase points instead of playing its preferred game.
Gunner Stockton should be asked to manage the game aggressively. That sounds contradictory, but it is not. Georgia needs him to protect the ball while still taking advantage of matchup throws. The tight ends should be useful again, especially against a defense that will likely try to make the Bulldogs earn throws into tighter windows.
Defensively, Georgia has to win the interior. Missouri is not the game for loose fits or missed gap assignments. Raylen Wilson, Chris Cole and Zayden Walker need to be clean, and the defensive front has to prevent Missouri from building confidence through the run game. If Georgia gets Missouri behind schedule, the Bulldogs’ secondary can take over.
This feels like a game Georgia has to win. It may be tense into the third quarter, especially if the Bulldogs are carrying bruises from the previous month. But at home, with urgency and a better overall roster, Georgia should separate late.
Prediction: Georgia 30, Missouri 20.
