Key Quote
“Huge win for us,” head coach Mike White said. “South Carolina is a very, very good team. They’re so hard to defend and they set great screens. They run good stuff. [Collin] Murray-Boyles is one of the toughest matchups in the country, and they just sit down and guard you. They’re so disciplined with their half-court defense. We weren’t able to get a lot of easy ones in transition, and, unfortunately, we had to hit some tough twos. You know, Silas [Demary Jr.] stepped up and hit some big shots for us. Blue [Cain] hit some big shots. We got some offensive rebounds, extra possessions by Dylan [James], by Asa [Newell]. Somto [Cyril] played well. Huge week for us, huge win.”

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On answering when the opponent scores…
“We’re getting to that point now where we’re getting some good swings. We’ve got a good, solid approach on what we’re trying to do with the starter. Obviously, Ryan Black with a home run to start the game and Slate (Alford) getting another one right after that. That’s what our offense is capable of doing against certain teams. We play matchups a ton, and I get asked a lot why I play so many games so early. It takes a while to figure out who can play against who. You need to see it play out, and when it happens, It’s fun to watch.”
On pitching today
“We had some guys come in and make some pitches. We were trying to do some things, six games in six days, we’ll wrap up tomorrow. When you have that many games in a row, we were able to take guys like Leighton Finley, and instead of him throwing a bullpen this week, he got his bullpen out here in an inning, and it was worth the work. We did the same with Kolten Smith and Brian Zeldin. I thought DJ Radtke came in an settled some things down too.”
Tre Phelps | So. | OF/INF
On the team’s belief in each other…
“It is just top to bottom believing in ourselves. You know the next guy is going to do it, and the first guy is going to do it. That is in hitting or pitching, and it is being able to believe from inning one to inning nine. It was good to be able to come back after an off day with energy after a long weekend and handle business offensively and defensively.”

The USBWA expanded its national weekly honors program to highlight five national Division I Players of the Week each week in conjunction with the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
Each Tuesday during the regular season, designated USBWA board members will select five standouts from the 31 Division I conference players of the week to be recognized. This week’s selections were chosen from a list of the conferences that named a player of the week on Monday. These are the season’s final selections. Joining Demary Jr. as this week’s honorees are Eric Dixon, Villanova (Big East); Izaiyah Nelson, Arkansas State (Sun Belt); Jeff Planutis, Mercyhurst (Northeast); and Cooper Schwieger, Valparaiso (Missouri Valley).
Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation’s oldest award and the only one named after a former player.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the USBWA will name finalists for the award, which is voted on by the entire membership. The winner of the award will be announced at the 2025 Men’s Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, with the formal presentation to follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
WBB: Mia Woolfolk and Trinity Turner Named to 2025 SEC All-Freshman Team

Georgia women’s basketball freshmen Trinity Turner and Mia Woolfolk earned spots on the 2025 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Georgia is the only program to land two players on the All-Freshman squad, marking the first time since 2010 the Lady Bulldogs have had a pair of student-athletes in the same season earn All-Freshman honors.

With her 12.2 points per game, Turner is the first Georgia rookie since 2004 National Freshman of the Year Tasha Humphrey to lead the Lady Bulldogs in scoring at the end of the regular season. The Orlando, Florida, native has posted 17 double-figure scoring games and five 20-plus point contests. She scored a career-high 28 points twice this season, doing so in road games at Georgia Tech and LSU.
Turner enters the SEC tournament ranked fifth among league freshmen in scoring and has totaled 85 assists and 50 steals.
Woolfolk made history to begin the year, becoming only the third Georgia rookie to record a double-double in her debut. She then ended the regular season by leading the Lady Bulldogs to an upset win at No. 11 Tennessee. Her 20-point effort in the season finale earned her SEC Freshman of the Week honors. The Midlothian, Virginia, native averaged 11.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game during the regular season, scoring in double figures 12 times.
Turner and Woolfolk are part of Georgia’s talented freshman class that makes up 47 percent of the team’s scoring. The Lady Bulldogs are the only SEC squad to have a pair of true freshmen rank among their top three scorers.
