Head Coach Drake Bernstein

On the team’s performance…

“We’re really pleased with the way we came out at one doubles. That was their first time playing one doubles today, they were fantastic from the start of the match. They play with such great energy. Patricija (Paukstyte) is really coming along. It’s fun to watch when she’s out there, she’s embracing the match, and she’s got the big smile on, it’s just a lot of fun to watch as a coach. Then, two doubles came alive there when we needed it the most. Again, that doubles point set the tone for the day.  I didn’t get to see much down here at the pit, but it looked like we were clean, from start to finish. We’ve got some things that we can do better up top, and that’s really what this whole season is. That’s what tomorrow is for. We’ll get back out here on a practice day, but it’s always a great one when you can beat Florida. I’m proud of the ladies and we’re excited for the next one.”

Bulldog Coach And Player Quotes On The Series

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson

On preparation for the first road conference series of the season…

“We won’t prepare any different. It’s still baseball. We have a few different time changes. We’ll go through batting practice last instead of first. We’re going to a new environment where the fans will root for you not to do well. That will be one side of it, but we’re not going to change a lot.”

On what stands out about Texas A&M…

“They can really defend and hit. They have really good guys like Caden Sorrell, Chris Hacopian and Wesley Jordan. They have Gavin Grahovac back after being hurt last year, who was a freshman All-American two years ago. He was a big piece of what they were hoping for last year, but then he got hurt and now he’s back. I think that their starting pitching and bullpen is better than what they were last year.”

#1 Tre Phelps | 3B | Jr.

On preparing for the first road test of the season…

“We are preparing the same way we have been. We are focusing on what we need to focus on. Each guy winning their battle, what our approaches need to be at the plate and what each guy needs to attack on the mound. Obviously, playing clean on defense.”

On what it is like playing on the road in the SEC…

“It is a lot easier to get up. It is going to be a loud crowd and a lot of energy, especially when you are playing in bigger stadiums like Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Being able to go and keep that focus is a lot. It is easier focusing when there are not a lot of people, so being able to balance that energy and emotions aspect of the game.”

#28 Brennan Hudson | C\INF | Sr.

On preparing to travel and take on Texas A&M this weekend…

“We are super excited to get going. Going in and attacking how we attack every day here. Just because it’s a new environment doesn’t mean we have to change everything we do. Getting in there, getting the rest we need and getting ready to play the same way we always do.”

On the message he shares with the team about going on the road…

“I let them know it’s a lot of fun. You have to accept the crowds are going to be unreal, and you want to use that. It is fun to go out there, see it and soak it in the first little bit. Then you get back to business. I think everybody has to go out there, have fun and keep playing the baseball we can.”

Really proud of our regular season. We broke records. We did things that have never happened, obviously, in the history of Georgia basketball. But our plan was to come here and play well and compete and advance. Just a tough way to end it.”
